Hello!
I’m Barbara Kerr.
I’m a Community Engagement Consultant, Facilitator and Coach, with a particular focus on supporting communities and individuals to take power and make change happen.

My Background
My journey into coaching, facilitation, and community engagement has grown from a diverse range of experiences. I first discovered coaching through a peer coaching programme with a former employer and found real fulfilment in supporting others to navigate challenges and improve their quality of life.
I have a strong interest in art and heritage, having studied Sculpture at undergraduate level, and I am particularly committed to making creative and cultural activities accessible to people from underprivileged backgrounds and minority communities, which led to me studying an MA in Arts, Festival and Cultural Management, with a particular focus on community arts, and making art accessible.
Alongside this, I have worked in the active travel sector, particularly working with community organisations around pedestrian and cycle infrastructure development and active travel projects to change behaviours to encourage people to move towards more sustainable and active travel options for every day journeys. This work gave me a deeper understanding of the intersectionality of poverty, class, and minority groups and the relationship between these and links to mental and physical wellbeing, place, and access to opportunities.
Following redundancy, I recognised that these interests all connect through health and wellbeing. This led me to return to coaching and to study psychology, strengthening my understanding of the emotions, beliefs, and behaviours that shape how we experience ourselves, others, and the world around us.
This has given me a firm understanding of the challenges faced by Purpose Led and For Impact organisations – commonly known as third sector, as well as challenges for public sector organisations and planning developers in engaging with communities of place or interest on their projects.
This dual experience means I am uniquely placed to bring together communities and developers in projects to make changes to the public realm.
I strongly believe that people make communities, and that vibrant communities make everyone’s lives better – socially, environmentally and economically.
